About Us Case Studies Glencoe Public Library

Glencoe Public Library

Glencoe Public Library is a charming, patron-focused library located on Chicago’s North Shore. Built in 1936 and merely 20,000 square feet in size, the Glencoe Public Library is an invaluable resource to diverse age groups from students, adults and seniors who visit the library every year.

During the past year, Glencoe Public Library worked with 360 Energy Group on an energy assessment funded by the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) Illinois Energy Now Program and conducted by the Smart Energy Design Assistance Center (SEDAC). The Glencoe Public Library was interested in having an energy assessment performed as a way improve the comfort and aesthetics of the building. Comfort and aesthetics are paramount to the library to enhance their visitors’ enjoyment and experience of the facility.

The energy assessment that was completed identified seven energy saving and comfort improvements, including replacing the library’s 68% efficient boiler that was original to the building and reducing infiltration from leaky windows and doors.

Once the assessment was completed, 360 Energy Group then provided technical assistance to the Library as part of the Illinois Energy Now sponsored Metropolitan Mayors Caucus Public Sector Energy Efficiency Program to help the library install two smaller 95% efficient boilers and receive $12,000 in Illinois Energy Incentives for the upgrades. The new boilers are expected to improve occupant comfort and reduce the library’s gas use.

Juliann M. Janovicz, Executive Director of the Glencoe Public Library, remarked, “I’m impressed by 360 Energy Group’s professionalism and guidance in helping us identify ways to save energy and improve the comfort of our building. Our patrons and local taxpayers will benefit tremendously from these improvements.”
