ComEd and Nicor Gas are teaming up to provide advanced energy efficiency certifications to recent graduates of their Market Development Initiative (MDI). This program offers training and certifications to help new and experienced professionals, with a focus on students from diverse and local backgrounds, succeed in the energy efficiency industry. Recent MDI graduates are now eligible to earn Building Performance Institute (BPI) certifications, allowing them to perform energy modeling, building analysis, and data evaluation to make high-impact efficiency recommendations. According to Kelly Lena, director of energy efficiency services at Nicor Gas:
“Our goal is to equip MDI graduates with the necessary skills to succeed in this growing industry. The additional training will enhance their ability to make a significant impact in the industry while delivering essential weatherization services to the communities that need them the most."
