According to the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy’s reporting on this year’s GreenerCars ratings, all-electric vehicles (EVs) now make up less of the dozen greenest cars available than they did previously. This is due to a shift in the market towards heavier, hybrid vehicles.
Peter Huether, ACEEE’s senior transportation research analyst says: "Automakers are pledging more all-electric models, but they're discontinuing some of the most efficient ones, leaving consumers with fewer compact, ultra-green choices. Automakers shouldn't produce only huge EVs. Such EVs, though more energy efficient than similarly sized gasoline counterparts, mean higher consumer costs and planet-warming emissions than small electric cars."
EVs are a cornerstone of any potentially greener, cleaner economy. 360 Energy Group has EV and EV charging experience. One of our team members, for example, has led an award-winning effort to install over 20 EV chargers in public sector locations in the Chicago North Shore area, and other EV efforts are ongoing alongside other energy efficiency projects. If you’re a private or public building owner, utility, or government agency that wants to make the most of your energy resources, contact 360 Energy Group at info@360eg.com.
