Tesla's Charging Network to Open to All Electric Vehicles Later This Year

Updated: Jul 11, 2022

The White House announced today that electric vehicle (EV) giant Tesla will be opening its charging network to all EVs later this year. This open-access program has been piloted in parts of Europe for some time but will now likely arrive in North America earlier than expected.

"Tesla is expanding production capacity of power electronics components that convert alternating current to direct current, charging cabinets, posts and cables," the White House said in a fact sheet. "Later this year, Tesla will begin production of new Supercharger equipment that will enable non-Tesla EV drivers in North America to use Tesla Superchargers.”
